Danny Fenton concludes his build of a DB Sport & Scale semi scale kit.

I used a hinging technique that I first saw Brian Taylor use. I am sure it has been around since before that, but it produces a beautifully accurate, precise and free moving hinge, with the bonus that the piano wire hinge pin can be removed to allow disassembly right up until applying the final paint.

Danny Fenton describes his build of a DB Sport & Scale semi scale kit

Regular 'Make It Scale' readers may recall that I had purchased a DB Sport & Scale Auster Autocrat from an advert in RCM&E. The remit was for a fun model to try a few techniques I had been musing for several months. In fact, one had been on the cards for a few years! My mind works quite slowly sometimes but I do get there in the end.

Danny Fenton looks at charging and temperature management of LiPo batteries.

For this coming flying season, if indeed there is one, I will be competing in 'Flying Only' with two airframes, a Black Horse 85” Chipmunk and a Seagull 80” Chipmunk. The Black Horse takes a pair of 5S LiPo packs, giving 10,000 mAh and the Seagull a single 5S-5000.

In his February 2021 'Make It Scale' column Danny Fenton heads for the bright lights and seaside to compete in his first F4C competition.

It is interesting that the models shown in the very first column I wrote in 2012 are all currently seeing activity in one way or another, including my Apache PA-23-150 and my Black Horse Chipmunk. Even my Brian Taylor Mustang has seen progress. But you will have to wait for an update on those projects.
